HP Pavilion dv7t Series

Pros
The HP Pavilion dv7t Series features a 17.3-inch display screen with 1600 x 900 resolution.

Cons
With medium use, this laptop computer offers a measly five hours of battery life.

The Verdict: 8.58/10
If you are looking for a laptop with a fast processor, a large screen and extra RAM, the HP Pavilion dv7t is worth your consideration.

The HP Pavilion dv7t laptop computer is the perfect device for anyone looking to do more than surf the web. It's a multimedia computer by heart and packs a powerful processor, loads of RAM (8GB) and a huge hard drive to store gigs upon gigs of files. Because of this, it's big. This computer is bulkier than any laptop reviewed, but if you aren't looking for mobility, this multimedia guru will fill all your entertainment needs.
The model dv7t has a 3rd generation Core i7 processor with a speed of 2.3GHz. With speed boost, the processor can work at around 3.3GHz. This is more than enough to run any type of program. HP recently introduced the Nvidia GeForce 630M and 650M to this computer, but  recommend using the 630 as it is powerful enough to support high-end software.
This laptop computer offers 8GB of RAM. This is one of the highest amounts of RAM we saw on a laptop computer. The dv7t Series also features 750GB of hard drive memory. This provides an sample amount of space for all your data on the laptop.

The battery life on this laptop did not meet our full expectations. The HP Pavilion dv7t offers a paltry five hours of battery life. This doesn’t give you much time to accomplish business tasks, and if you're on a trip and can't charge the battery often, you may not have enough power to last between charges.

This laptop's processor works well with HP's well designed, fully high-def display. The 1600 x 900 resolution screen highlights gaming and movies with crisp images and colors that really stand out. It has a wide viewing area, so not everyone has to cram around the screen to watch something.

The HP Pavilion dv7t offers an extensive feature set. There is an HP TrueVision HD webcam and a built-in microphone. There are several ports and slots available for additional memory and hardware, including four USB ports and an HDMI port. The HDMI port allows you to connect the laptop to a large monitor or an HDTV for a larger viewing experience. There are also five games preloaded on the dv7t Series for additional entertainment.

A powerful security feature is the HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive protection. This program will guard your hard drive if the computer is dropped. ProtectSmart senses when the laptop is falling and locks in the hard drive. It also offers more enhanced protection if it senses you are carrying the device while it is powered on.
HP's customer support and warranty are excellent. This device offers a two-year warranty on the hardware. This is a much longer warranty than you will find on many similar devices. Also, there are several options for reaching a customer service representative if any problems or concerns arise while using this laptop. There is a user forum located on the HP website for additional assistance and feedback from other users. There is also a section of the website for driver and software downloads.
